Calligraphy is more than just decorated letters, fancy fonts, beautiful handwriting, and the mere use of letters as ornaments. It is a heritage art which is used to establish a connect between the artist and the viewer, and trigger a response from the viewer in terms of a new thought process. As budding artists and designers, it is essential that the students get acquainted with this art as it will help them enhance their design sensibilities. Keeping this in mind, a two day workshop on Calligraphy was conducted by Shipra Dutta, where she introduced the students to this beautiful art form.
The workshop was spread over two days during which Shipra introduced the students to the basics of calligraphy and its finer nuances. On the second day of the workshop, the students got their creative juices flowing and practiced writing various calligraphic fonts. The major learning outcome of this workshop was to help students explore their perception of beauty, grace and use their individual artistic expressions to create a font that is true to their personality.
