Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD), Delhi held its Foundation Diploma Ceremony on 7th October 2022 to facilitate the students of batch 2021. The ceremony was presided over by the esteemed Faculty and Management of IIAD. Students from the foundation batch successfully completed their first year of design education and embarked on an enthralling journey to the next level that leads to the exploration of their chosen design specialisation.
Foundation is a bridging program, aiding the student transition from school to higher education in design. The journey of all undergraduate design students begins with one year in Foundation. The course introduces students to a broad spectrum of design skills and helps to build their design vocabulary. Students develop essential creative and critical thinking skills and also learn techniques for research and problem solving, which prepares them for their future design learning.
The students were in full attendance wearing white which was the dress code for the day. While presenting the certificates to the students Prof. Usha Patel, Director-Academics addressed all the students and said, “We want you all to be thinkers, inquirers and evolve as articulated and confident individuals who are ready to take up to the world stage and complete the task given with the best brains in the world.”
Taking the tradition forward at IIAD, colourful pinwheels were distributed to cherish the moment of accomplishments in the most authentic way. Pinwheel signifies good luck, longevity, health and prosperity. Then came the most awaited moment of the day, the award ceremony where students were presented with their Diplomas certificates. The students waited with bated breath to proudly strike a pose with their certificates as a mark of successfully achieving the first milestone on their design journey.

It is a long steady process that requires hard work, commitment, sacrifice and failure. Facing failures fearlessly is the only thing that guides us through our journey to success.”
The speech received thunderous applause from the students who resonated with each and everything with respect to their learnings and experience at IIAD so far.
