Foundation in Design
A sculptor from Kolkata, Kishore Chakraborty has been a practicing artist for the last 27 years. He was a senior fellow in sculpture from the Ministry of Culture. He has participated in numerous exhibitions in India and abroad along with his national and international solo shows. Kishore is a founding faculty member at IIAD.
Kishore has completed his graduation and post graduation (Visual Arts) in sculpture from Rabindra Bharati University. He specialises in 3D & 2D Expressions such as Sculpture, Paintings, Photography, Video installation/Multimedia. What sets Kishore apart is his use of unconventional materials to create sculptures which are scathing indictments of the current state of affairs in our country.
Kishore has bagged a number of national and international camps, residencies and talks. In 2001-02 he was awarded Charles Wallace India Trust award to work in a professional sculpture workshop for six months in the United Kingdom, Berllendery Sculpture Workshop, South of Wales. He was awarded the Junior Fellowship in Sculpture from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India in 1994, and the Garhi Research Grant by Lalit Kala Akademy, New Delhi in 1996. From the early days of his career he was awarded by several prestigious institutions including W.B. State Akademy (in 1992), W.B. Tathya Kendra, information centre (in 1992), Birla Akademy (in 1990) and R.B.University (in 1983,84,85).
