An education management professional with over 25 years’ experience across the education sector Simrat specializes in start-up management for Design and Business Education including, but not limited to, strategic business planning, operations management, infrastructure planning and re-development, human capital management, corporate communication and outreach.
A major in Psychology from Delhi University Simrat, has handled the operational side of education from the start. Beginning by working in the NGO sector, administering adult literacy to anganwadi workers, she also worked with tribal children in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh. She then took on the responsibility of administering computer literacy to school going students across the State of Madhya Pradesh, through government schools, while working with the Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University.
A shift to New Delhi in 2001 found Simrat at the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in the Vice Chancellor’s Office handling coordination of distance education programmes via satellite to all IGNOU study centres across the country.
8 years later she joined the team at NIIT handling online MBA programmes affiliated to IIM Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow and IMT Ghaziabad. Her responsibilities included Infrastructure planning, managing operations and coordination across all centres.
Horizon Infrastructure allowed her to initiate and lead setting up educational projects and institutions from scratch which included all processes and regulatory clearances for acquiring land and obtaining clearances under environment and other statutes; handling financial and legal issues, conducting due diligence for projects, engaging expert consultants, formulating and finalizing project reports, and making presentations to potential partners as well as the Government.
As COO Strathclyde Skil Business School (an educational startup) she set up and shepherded the Institution through construction and interiors to headhunting for faculty and staff to man the institution, brand building and marketing responsibilities, co-ordination and discussing with the partners, facilitating the acculturation and integration of visiting faculty, budgets, arranging the necessary finances from the parent company, ensuring admissions, examinations, results etc.
Joining IIAD in 2014 at its inception stage she is the go-to person now for all operational matters.
