After having completed his graduation from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Fashion Communication, Viplav went on to pursue his further studies from the Maya Institute of Advanced Cinematics, Mumbai. He received formal training in Advanced Visual Effects from the Institute wherein he gathered the necessary skill-set required to set foot in the field of graphic design. While pursuing his training in Advanced Visual Effects, Viplav was associated with Gulmohar International Pvt. Ltd. as a Graphic Designer. Upon completion of his studies, he began working in the capacity of a Lighting and Environment Artist with BlowFish FX, a CGI animation studio based in Kolkata, West Bengal. Here he worked closely with the Artistic Director and got ample opportunities where he designed and integrated environments to accentuate the narrative, thereby engaging the audience in a fully-immersive experience. A majority of his work at BlowFish FX entailed dealing with 3D lighting and rendering as well as 3D landscaping.
He has also worked with Reliance Education (also known as Reliance AIMS) as a faculty where he interacted with the students and shared his expertise in aspects such as lighting, shading, photography, 3D modeling and texturing as well. Viplav has always enjoyed interacting and mentoring students and this motivated him to explore the field of academics as a career path. He has also been associated with Frameboxx Animation and Visual Effects Pvt Ltd as a Senior Faculty where he interacted with the students of the Diploma and Degree batches. He also headed the Animation Department at TGC Animation and Multimedia, New Delhi.
Viplav is adept at his software skills and can navigate smoothly across rendering applications like Photoshop, Maya, Quixel, AutoDesk 3D Max, Mental Ray, Eon Vue, Marvelous Designer and RenderMan amongst a list of others. His skills lie in animation, graphic design, texturing, 3D modeling and lighting. Apart from these professional skills, Viplav is a keen guitarist and is also a trained in the Korean martial art form of Taekwondo. He happens to be a multi-linguist with knowledge of Bengali, Marathi, Maithili and Japanese, in addition to English and Hindi.
At IIAD, Viplav will get the opportunity of mentoring the Communication Design students and helping them explore the exciting realms of the discipline to the maximum possible extent.
