Tanya Kumar is passionate about vernacular, sustainable, energy efficient, alternate architecture, and space management. An architect by degree, her work experience of over twenty years spans across Alternate Construction, Crafts Initiative, Digital Content, Exhibition Design, Heritage Conservation, Product Design, and others.
Her quest for design began with a Diploma in Interior Design from South Delhi Polytechnic for Women, New Delhi followed by Bachelors of Architecture from Shivaji University, Maharashtra. She then pursued Post Graduate Diploma in Environment and Sustainable Development from Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. In order to enhance her skillsets and expertise, she has done Repair of Old Buildings Course from Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, London; Natural Buildings Course from Himalayan Institute of Alternatives, Ladakh; Art Appreciation Course from National Museum Institute, New Delhi. She has also been engaged in numerous seminars and workshops.
She has received accolades for her works such as the Louis I Kahn Trophy for the analytical study of the Kopeshwar Temple in Khidrapur at the NASA convention held at VRCE Nagpur and the Lutyens Trust Study Visit Scholarship to UK with support from the Charles Wallace India Trust and the National Trust UK.
Her career in the education sector began at Apeejay Institute of Technology - School of Architecture and Planning, Greater Noida as a Lecturer for Construction, Materials, and Design. She then assisted as an External Juror at Ansal University - Sushant School of Art and Architecture, Gurgaon for Construction, and Graphics. She has also worked as a Visiting Faculty at Sharda University - School of Art, Design and Media Studies, Greater Noida for Construction, Design, Materials, Presentation, Sketching, and Thesis.
At IIAD, she will be mentoring the students pursuing their Interior Architecture and Design Programme.
